Lovers of German culture from the Bala Cynwyd area will want to clear a space in their diaries for an upcoming Oktoberfest.
This year’s offering at Narberth Park promises specialties like brat sausages, sauerkraut, and pretzels, along with turkey and a hog roast. Of course, guests will be able to wash it all down with a selection of local beers. Live entertainment will be provided by local cover band Narband.
The Narberth Fire Company will benefit from funds generated at the event. Proceeds will also go towards the Narberth Dickens Festival, which will be held on December 6 this year and will see actors dressed as Ebenezer Scrooge and other Dickensian characters roam the town of Narberth.
The event itself is for adults only, but provisions have been made for those looking for babysitters. Organizers say that up to 50 children of preregistered guests will be looked after by certified babysitters at Borough Hall, though they must be aged three or older.
Originally part of Bavarian culture, Oktoberfest celebrations have spread all over the world, offering revelers the opportunity to enjoy German food, drink, and entertainment. Events like this are often promoted through the work of local flyer printing companies.
The Oktoberfest takes place this Saturday, October 3, from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Tickets cost $45, which includes a souvenir mug, and are available from the Narberth Business Association website. As they are expected to sell quickly, those interested are advised to book as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.
