Those who work with infectious or other dangerous substances will be able to add to their skillset when they take part in a training opportunity.
This Bala Cynwyd area short course is intended for those who package and ship infectious substances and dry ice, and both Class 6 and Class 9 materials will be covered. Participating in a refresher like this is a requirement for the field, and it needs to be done every two years.
The learners will be taught how to properly package, classify, mark, and label the items they ship for diagnostic and research purposes, and the use of dry ice will be covered. It is scheduled to run for two hours, and is being offered thanks to the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. Learners will also be taught how to properly fill out the documentation that accompanies each shipment.
Many healthcare facilities and other institutions offering a workshop like this use their own custom designed shipping documents. These may be prepared by the graphic design department at a local Print shop.
The “Proper Transport of Infectious Substances” course for those who work in the medical and scientific fields is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, November 17, starting at 10:00 am. The venue will be released to the registrants once it has been determined by the organizers.
