Bluebirds to benefit from Bala Cynwyd area workshops

Bluebirds were once a common sight in the Bala Cynwyd area, and thanks to two upcoming workshops, local nature lovers will soon be able to offer them a helping hand.

The “For the Love of Bluebirds'” seminar series will give area amateur ornithologists and others who want to be good stewards of their environment some tips for making their yard welcoming to these colorful birds. There will be two sessions with various topics on the agenda for discussion.

The attendees will find out how bluebirds require cavities for nesting, and they will also discover how it is important to create a suitable habitat that includes shelter and food. Tips for selecting the right home for a bluebird to raise its family will be shared, and the migration process and the threats songbirds face will also be on the agenda. The presenter will be Krista Hixon, and financial support for the function has been supplied by Wild Birds Unlimited Nature Shop.

The listing prepared for the occasion explained that those who are interested can attend both sessions, but the information will be the same. Supplying the attendees in nature-themed activities with Notebooks and promotional Pens will make it easy for them to record any observations they make as citizen scientists.

The learning sessions are scheduled for Thursday, November 3 at 6:00 pm and Saturday, November 5 at 10:00 am at the Willows Park in Villanova.
