Bala Cynwyd sewists offered weekend costume sew

Bala Cynwyd sewists who enjoy crafting as part of a larger group may want to save the date for a weekend of needlework along with their friends.

Spokes and Stitches, which is an area sewing shop and studio, will be doing its part to add some extra spookiness to the Halloween season by hosting a costume sew-a-thon. Registration is $30 per session, and everyone who is interested can choose how many to sign up for.

The registrants for the activity will receive the use of one of the venue’s fleet of sewing machines, and there will be other cutting and stitching tools available as well. There will be large cutting tables set up, and everyone is asked to provide their own pattern and materials. As a special perk, the attendees will be able to access advice and tips from costume designer Ruby Gertz. It was pointed out that the location offers easy access to at least two fabric and notion stores. Snacks will be supplied.

Crafting can be a lot of fun, especially when it's part of a big group. A flyer printing company can supply an assortment of marketing materials that can be helpful in spreading the word to the public.

This weekend of costume crafting will be held on October 5th and 6th at 5231 Germantown Avenue in Philadelphia. Tickets to take part are $30 each.
