While red-backed salamanders may be common amphibians in Bala Cynwyd, they are not often easy to spot, and they will be the stars of an upcoming all-ages walk.
In mid-May, Pennypack Trust Headquarters will be leading a guided outing that will visit a common species of salamander. It was explained that they tend to be easier to find during the spring when they can be out in the dampness.
The walk will visit a location that tends to attract a high population of salamanders, and as they go, they will learn about the life cycle and ecology of these small amphibians. They can ask questions, and while all ages are encouraged to join in the learning, children will need to have an adult accompany them throughout the activity, which has a runtime of one and half hours.
A walk in the woods can be a fun way to celebrate the arrival of spring, and they are a popular choice of activity for many environmentally focused organizations. A flyer printing company will be happy to help make sure everyone knows about a particular event happening in their home community.
This salute to salamanders will begin at 11:00 am on Saturday, May 13. It will wrap up at 12:30 pm, and is just one of the functions the organizer has on its agenda for the springtime season.
