Bala Cynwyd neighbor looks to revamp its downtown

Just a few months after news that Main Street in Bala Cynwyd would undergo a $100m makeover, residents in neighboring Narberth to discuss a similar situation.

More than 100 people, including business owners and residents, showed up for a meeting at the end of last month to discuss the concept of ‘Main Street’." The effort is an attempt to give the Haverford Avenue business district, which runs through the downtown, a jolt.

Over the course of more than two hours, attendees gathered in small groups and discussed obstacles that could stand in the way of revitalization, opportunities to renew the district and preserve its historical character, and the strengths and weaknesses of the current downtown.

Members of the Narberth Borough Council were quick to stress that the meeting was the beginning of an ongoing discussion about the state of downtown. The next step is for Harris to produce a report, based on the items discussed in the workshop, and present it to the council. From there, it will be up to the Borough Council to decide the next steps it will take.
