Bala Cynwyd birders invited to upcoming event

Chimney swifts and other flying insectivores will be the focus of an online presentation offered to Bala Cynwyd nature lovers this September, and it is free to take a seat.

Wissahickon Trails has made arrangements to host “Chimney Swifts 101”, and it will introduce birds such as swifts, swallows, and also whippoorwills and other members of the nightjar family. It will explore the life cycles of these Flyers, and it was noted that it may be beneficial to those who plan on being part of Chimney Swift Watch, which will be held in mid-September.

The workshop agenda will include an assortment of topics, and the group will discover several theories as to why the numbers of these species have been in decline. They will be introduced to some of the latest research and studies into insectivorous birds, and a discussion of their life cycles will take place as well. The function is being held thanks to the cooperative efforts of local conservation groups.

Learning how to identify different bird species is often an important part of ensuring their numbers will be protected and preserved. A brochure printing company will be able to supply identification tools that can be used in the field.

This online introduction to the life and times of chimney swifts and other fast Flyers will be held on September 9. It will begin at 12:00 pm.
