Residents came out by the dozens for the grand opening of the newly renovated Ardmore library, which closed its doors in January of 2015 for renovations.
This is one of many libraries in the Bala Cynwyd area to undergo such renovations. The ceremony opened with a ribbon cutting which featured the history of the events leading up to the renovations. These go back many years to when former commissioner, Charlie Bloom, revealed his vision of seeing all six libraries in the system undergo renovations. Ardmore is the third of the six to complete the renovations.
One of the biggest changes to the library was the addition of an elevator. This exterior elevator was built out of stone materials to match the architecture of the library which was built in 1917.
A brief history of the library was also presented, highlighting over 100 years of events leading to the library as it stands now. The Women’s Club of Ardmore founded the library in 1899 and the current location was built in 1917, making it just shy of a century old.
In order to continue to service the community the library could benefit from Promotional Products to help support donations from locals and businesses for any future needs. The Promotional Products could feature the ‘Clevenger Fountain’, which greets visitors on the front lawn of the library.
