Ambler Theater is hosting NOIR CITY: Philadelphia this November.
The festival will feature nine classic film noir movies with the theme “Face the Music.” To fit the theme, each movie includes a musician character. The lineup includes Black Angel and The Yellow Canary on Friday, The Man I Love, Hangover Square and Odds Against Tomorrow on Saturday and Young Man With a Horn and Sweet Smell of Success on Sunday. Ambler is the last stop on the NOIR CITY tour, which kicked off in Oakland, California, in January before visiting nine other cities across the country.
Film noir expert Eddie Mueller will give an introduction to each film. Hannah Jack, a writer for Turner Classic Movies, will be interviewing Eddie Mueller and writer and commentator Imogen Sara Smith. Tickets for the 90-minute conversation, called Eddie and Imogen Live, are $15.50, with member, senior and youth discounts available.
There will also be a Cocktails With Eddie event on Saturday. Admission to this reception is free with a ticket to any of the films. Passes for the full weekend are sold out, but tickets for the individual films are available on the theater’s website. Theaters often use poster printing services to promote their special events.
NOIR CITY: Philadelphia will take place on Friday, November 13, Saturday, November 14 and Sunday, November 15, at Ambler Theater.
