Coffeehouse to host blues and swing concert

Gwynedd Friends Coffeehouse will host Melissa Martin and the Mighty Rhythm Kings for an evening of blues and swing music.

Melissa Martin and the Mighty Rhythm Kings are best known for their 2009 album, “Lucky Girl,” and they have been performing in small venues around the Philadelphia area since that time. Melissa Martin is one of Philadelphia’s most popular blues singers, so this event is sure to attract attendees from Ambler and other surrounding towns. Martin is known for her stage presence, powerful voice and high-energy shows. The band’s musical style incorporates upbeat jump blues, jazz ballads and R&B elements.

Gwynedd Friends Coffeehouse is a volunteer-run nonprofit, so concert attendees are asked to give a donation of seven dollars in cash at the door. Any proceeds in addition to the event costs will be donated to the charity of the evening, which has not yet been announced. Concert venues usually use printings services when promoting their events. The Coffeehouse’s current COVID-19 policy requires all guests to provide proof of their full vaccination along with a photo ID. There will be no food or beverages served, and attendees will need to wear masks throughout the show.

The concert will take place on Saturday, March 12, 2022, at 8 pm at Gwynedd Friends Meeting. Doors open at 7:30 pm.
