Act II Playhouse in Ambler is presenting a production of Doubt, A Parable as part of its 2020-2021 season.
Jim Christy will be the director of the Ambler production. The play was written by John Patrick Shanley, and has won a Pulitzer Prize and multiple Tony Awards. In 2008, it was adapted to film starring Phillip Seymour Hoffman and Meryl Streep.
The setting of the play is New York during the 1960s. Sister Aloysius Beauvier runs the St. Nicholas School, and accuses a priest of breaking his vows. She makes it her mission to discover the truth all on her own.
Tickets range from $30 to $47 depending on the day of the week of the performance and the location of the seats. Tickets are cheaper on weekdays and are available on the Act II Playhouse website. Staff are enforcing social distancing in the theater, so there is limited seating for each performance. The playhouse is located at 56 East Butler Avenue.
Act II Playhouse prides itself on giving audiences a personal experience with small theaters and visceral interactions with performers. It features both classic and modern plays.
The show starts on Tuesday, October 20 at 8:00 pm, and then there are show times at 8:00 pm Wednesday to Sunday through November 15. Theaters usually use poster printing to let patrons know about upcoming shows.
