The Ambler Area Running Club (AARC) is set to hold the Phils Tavern 5k race this August.
The race will start on Temple University’s Ambler Campus. A DJ will be playing music both before and after the race. Runners will receive a free photo, and water stops and indoor bathrooms will be available.
Those interested in participating can register on the AARC’s website through the day of the race. The cost is $40 per person. The top three finishers in each age category, as well as the top three overall finishers by gender, will receive a freshly baked pie. Runners can park in the student parking lot. Volunteers will be on hand to provide additional directions. The course is mostly flat, with minimal elevation changes. Race organizers often use printing services to create Signs and other materials.
Proceeds from the race will help fund scholarships for students at four local high schools - North Penn, Upper Dublin, Hatboro-Horsham and Wissahickon. The running club will also make donations to three local nonprofits chosen by its members. These are Girls on the Run, which uses running to teach life skills to girls, I’m Still Running, which provides animal rescue services in memory of avid runner Mary Catherine Cannon and Safe Harbor, which supports children and teens who have experienced a loss.
AARC’s Phils Tavern 5k will take place on Wednesday, August 7th at 7 pm.
