Ambler race encourages runners to get frostbite

The Frostbite 5 Miler will be returning to Ambler this February, challenging runners to take on the Pennsylvania cold while improving their fitness and benefiting charity.

The event will be a race over a five-mile distance. The course is mostly flat with some moderate hills. Awards will be given for the top three male and female finishers in over a dozen age classes, as well as an overall award for non-binary runners. The top overall finishers will receive a cash prize.

The race is sanctioned by USA Track and Field and is the first on its Grand Prix circuit in the Mid-Atlantic region each year. Following the race, there will be refreshments provided by local sponsors The Fireside Bar and Grill.

As with last year’s event, there will also be a virtual format available for the Frostbite race, with participants able to run the five-mile distance at a time and place of their choosing. Proceeds from the race will go towards local charities selected by the Ambler Area Running Club, which is hosting the event. Participants will receive a commemorative long-sleeved shirt and digital photographs for the registration fee. Runs and other athletic challenges often use custom shirts and other Promotional Products to give participants a lasting reminder of their efforts.

The Frostbite 5 Miler will take place on February 19, with the race kicking off at Wissahickon High School.
