Starting next month, the Act II Playhouse in Ambler will perform Kalamazoo – a romantic comedy by Kelly Younger and Michelle Kholos Brooks.
The play is about two older people, Irv and Peg, who try to find love online. According to Mary Carpenter, the play's director, Kalamazoo is engaging and unpredictable. She enjoys how human and interesting the characters are, as well as its many surprises and plot twists.
Carpenter added that all ages would relate to the characters. Older audience members will relate because of the characters Peg and Irv portray. Younger members will relate to susceptibility when trying to navigate relationships and respect.
Carla Belver, an actress from Philadelphia known for her part in Dead Poets Society, plays Peg. She has performed at Act II before in The Glass Menagerie and Driving Miss Daisy, and received the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Philadelphia Barrymore Awards in 2014.
Jack Hoffman plays Irv. Hoffman has had roles in movies such as The Runaway Bride, Lovely Bones, and The Village by M. Night Shyamalan.
