Ambler basketball tournament supports cancer charity

The 3rd Annual Kicks4Chris 3on3 Basketball Tourney is returning this month with prizes for winners and a day of fun for everyone.

The Kicks4Chris Foundation uses the tournament as a fundraising tool and to draw attention to its nonprofit organization. The group, named after a cancer patient that used his limited time to help others fight the disease, funds research into immunotherapy to help people battle cancer with their own immune system.
Teams of three or four players will compete for the grand prize of $250, so locals may want to gather their friends and do some banner printing to increase crowd enthusiasm.

The basketball tournament will include a free jersey for all participants, food and drinks, a DJ, and music all day. A 50-50 raffle will also take place and all ticketholders must choose the team they think will win the tournament. All correct guesses will split the winning jackpot.

Every team in the tournament will play at least four games. The tournament allows up to 20 teams this year, so it is advisable to register early to ensure a spot in the roster. Players without a team can register as a Free Agent and organizers will choose a team for them.

Team fees are $100 and Free Agents pay $40 each. All spectators pay $10 to watch the tournament, which takes place on June 10 and begins at 10:30 am. The event will take place at the Mondauk Common Park, located at 1451 Dillon Road in Ambler.
