As June 21st rolls around, Salem will be getting ready for its annual Make Music Salem Day.
The event will be one of worldwide celebrations of music stemming from the French Fete de la Musique. It brings together musicians of all ages and abilities, and listeners at over 50 venues around town to enjoy any kind of music imaginable. Last year, more than 150 bands and musicians performed in Salem's Make Music Day, and the organizers are hoping for even more this year.
Venues will include restaurants, parks, libraries, gardens, courtyards, plazas, schools, museums, sidewalks, alleys, and even a local farm. Some venues – such as the Lord & Schryver Conservancy, Minto Island Growers, and the Salem Public Library – will have music performances all afternoon.
All performances will be free, but performers may sell their merchandise featuring their graphic design and advertise their future shows. T-Shirts sporting this year's yellow and blue graphic design are available online. Performers need to sign up and make their profiles before beginning their event poster printing in earnest.
Four sponsorships are available. They range from the Tempo ($250) to the Rhythm ($2,500). All sponsors over the $250 level will need to get their logo designs to the organizers as soon as possible.
Make Music Salem 2024 will take place from 1:00 pm to 10:00 pm on Friday, June 21.
