A collection of Salem musicians will be performing as part of a show with visual elements in mid-April.
The Blue Marble is a film, as well as a symphony composed by Julie Giroux consisting of three movements. In this concert, it is preceded by several hits composed by the legendary John Williams for the Star Wars franchise. These include “The Imperial March,” “Battle in the Forest,” “Princess Leia’s Theme,” the main Star Wars theme, and “Yoda’s Theme.” Other pieces in Giroux’s “Symphony No. 6” include “Voices in Green” and “Let there be Life.”
The first movement, “The Blue Marble,” brings the audience back to our world, while the following two lead them through a rainforest and then all froms of life on Earth. Adding the visual element gave Giroux the opportunity to spread her message of compassion and love for the planet we call home.
Finishing off the show is a performance of “Symphonies of Gaia” by Jayce Ogren. Gaia is known as the “Titan goddess of the earth” in the realm of Greek mythology. Ogren hopes his work will push people to fight the issues the environment is facing.
These works will be performed by the Salem Symphonic Winds, and tickets can be found using the allevents.in listing. Poster printing will often be one form of promotion for performances like this. The concert is set to run from 3:00pm to 4:45pm on April 16, at the Rose Auditorium of South Salem High School.
