An artist based in Salem will bring a lesson with a customizable twist to a local business in late January.
Pet Portrait Wine & Watercolor is a Paint with Magenta event. Participants can create an image of their beloved pets while learning a different paint style. Those without pets, or a good headshot of their critters, can choose a favorite animal or pick from the available options the instructor brings. Those bringing their own photo are asked to make it a black and white version – either a photocopy or a printed out image.
Elisa Mack, the host, started Paint with Magenta as a way to bring her artform to interested people while also providing a communal environment so individuals did not have to learn everything alone. She works with area businesses, including wineries, to host events throughout her community.
The paints and paper used are artist grade, allowing for even first-timers to have a quality piece at the end. Materials, snacks, and instruction are covered by the fee, with wine also available at an additional cost. The entry cost is $44.52 with the Eventbrite fee added.
Chemeketa Cellars will have wine for sale by the bottle, as well as in tasting portions. The business is also providing its tasting room as the venue for the art experience. Group art activities commonly get promotion from flyer printing. The class is booked for 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm on Saturday, January 27.
