Coinciding with Portland’s annual Rose Festival, the Rose Festival Fleet Week is one of the country’s premier Fleet Week events and sees the U.S. Coast Guard, U.S. Navy, and Royal Canadian Navy paying a courtesy visit to the city.
While in port, free ship tours will be available, although certain requirements must be met to participate. Riders must show a government-issued ID and submit to an airport-style security screening check point. In some cases, a personal search may be required.
Other requirements include wearing closed-toed shoes and having the physical capability to maneuver throughout the ship, such as being able to climb narrow ladders. No wheelchairs, strollers or Bags are allowed on board and a holding area is not available. A dockside tour designed for those visitors with mobility issues may be requested at a tent in proximity to the ship tour line.
Banner printing services play a vital role in festivals, from informing the public ahead of time to directing attendees during the event.
Portland has become a favorite port of call for naval ships due to the warm welcome they receive here. The city has enjoyed a mutually beneficial relationship with the Navy for over a century, and for more than 80 of those years it has paid the city courtesy visits during its annual Rose Festival.
Rose Festival Fleet Week is a free event that takes place every day from June 5 to 9 at Tom McCall Waterfront Park.
