At long last, the Georgia-based Chick-fil-A fast food chain has returned to Portland with the January 22nd opening of a location at 9950 S.E. Stark Street.
The announcement of an opening day for the new store was not released until January 15, a mere week prior to its grand opening. The new store is not the company’s first foray into Portland, but the city has been Chick-fil-A-less since 2003 when Portland’s first location at the Lloyd Center food court closed.

In Southeast Portland, the new Chick-fil-A will be in proximity to 205 Place. The chain’s return has been on its agenda for over two years, with the city approving plans for the restaurant in 2024.
Open from 6:30 am to 10:00 pm Monday through Saturday, the Southeast Stark Street restaurant will, according to a news release, provide dine-in, curbside, and carry-out ordering. The new store will also feature an indoor playground, and will require around 100 employees.
Chick-fil-A presently operates 17 of its restaurants across the state, with plans to expand its Oregon presence with the addition of six new locations by the end of next year.
