Portland runners lace up for one-day marathon

Portland will once again host a marathon in early October. This event has become a mainstay of the community, and similar to previous years, many runners from all walks of life are expected to participate.

The 2026 Portland Marathon has been broken down into a series of stages, and these often depend on the capabilities of the runners. It is possible to participate in a full marathon, a half marathon, a 10K walk/run, and a one-mile race for children. The general course of this event will follow the shoreline of the Williamette River and take runners through Downtown Portland.

In addition to the marathon, organizers will also be hosting a wellness exposition the day before the race. This seminar is expected to cover topics such as becoming familiar with the course layout, learning about runner safety, and discussing how to create secure communities for fitness enthusiasts.

Citywide events known to attract a wide array of participants will employ equally flexible marketing strategies. Some well-known solutions include mass flyer printing, handing out Brochures well before the day of the competition, and offering branded merchandise to all participants at discounted prices.

The 2026 Portland Marathon is being held on Sunday, October 4th at 7 AM, so runners should make it a point to arrive in advance. The race will start and finish at 1000 SW Naito Parkway within Mill Ends Park. Tickets begin at $74 per runner. Additional price information can be found on the official site.
