Portland celebrates Cinco de Mayo Fiesta over five days

Portland’s 39th annual Cinco de Mayo celebration will be held at Tom Mcall Waterfront Park and offer families a diverse variety of entertainment options.

The Portland Guadalajara Sister City Association (PGSCA) sponsors the event, which is Oregon’s largest multicultural festival and includes a naturalization ceremony, family fun carnival, the Cuervo Premier Tequila Tasting Experience, Rip City Boxing and the Loteria Game Booth. Plus, there will be cultural crafts, activities, games and free face painting each day at the Plaza de Niños.

Festivals and similar events offer not only an opportunity for artisans to sell their wares but also to promote themselves by handing out their Business Cards.

Presented by Alaska Airlines, the Guadalajara Artisan Village will offer authentic, unique crafts for sale. Visitors can meet the artisans who created the handcrafted artworks and artifacts, many of whom have traveled all the way from Tonala and Guadalajara, Mexico. Also making the trip from Guadalajara are the internationally recognized Mariachi Ciudad de Guadalajara. Additionally, Oregon's own Ballet Folklórico México en La Piel will be performing.

There will ample opportunity to enjoy Mexican cuisine including regional specialties with more than 40 food vendors on hand serving everything from snacks to desserts.

The Cinco de Mayo Fiesta is the PGSCA’s primary fundraiser and takes place May 1-5 running 11 am to 11 pm the first three days and 4 pm to 10 pm on May 4th and 5th.
