New Oregon office created to address Portland traffic

A new office is being crafted within the Oregon transportation department specifically to address the traffic problems that challenge the Portland metro area as well making sure that large freeway projects such as the Rose Quarter expansion take place.

It was recently announced that the Office of Urban Mobility and Mega Project Delivery was being formed. Its obligations will include three freeway projects seen as vital to the region’s transportation system: the Abernethy Bridge on Interstate 205, the Rose Quarter bottleneck, and a stretch of Oregon 217 to be widened.

Veteran political aide Brendan Finn, who most recently served as the 2018 transportation advisor to Oregon Governor Kate Brown, will be in charge of the new mega projects office.

New positions as well as new offices require the involvement of printing services to provide Business Cards and other Stationery items.

According to an ODOT delivery and operations division deputy administrator, McGregor Lynde, the department has not yet been given its total budget. However, the money is available to at least pay Finn’s annual salary of $178,608 as well two additional workers. The new position starts as of March 1, 2020 and with regards to seniority, Finn will be on the same level as the other five ODOT region directors.

Projects with a price tag of over $100m may originally be defined as mega projects with further refinement depending on the project’s size, scope, and complexity.
