Portland residents on the fence about purchasing an EV may be encouraged to do so with the state’s plan to by 2026 add 460 public electric vehicle (EV) charging ports in conjunction with a state rebate program.
The additional 460 ports will bring the Oregon Department of Transportation funded public EV chargers to 882. Most of these have been funded partly via a Community Charging Rebates program that concentrates on electric charging ports located at workplaces, apartment buildings and publicly accessible parking areas. The program enables partial reimbursement for the cost of Level 2 charging stations, which give a 100-mile range charge over approximately four hours.
Car companies utilize banner printing services to attract attention and promote sales.
Since its inception, $4.25 million has been unlocked by ODOT in the program’s first two rounds with 70 percent of the second-round fund providing EV charging ports in rural and disadvantaged communities. Applications open on December 17 for the third round, which has $2.75 million available for distribution.
The third round was to be the final one of funding; however, additional federal grant funds in the amount of $10.9 was made available from ODOT in July. The manner in which these additional funds will be used has yet to be determined.
Apps such as PlugShare enable EV owners to locate charging stations throughout Oregon and across the country.
