LYT’s Transit Signal Priority (TSP) is its latest software solution and will enable traffic signals to give priority to buses, thereby making the city buses more reliable and improving their time between stops.
Brochures or pamphlets supplied by Print shops can go a long way in helping public transportation services reach potential commuters.
TSP is just part of TriMet’s Division Transit Project, which will also use longer buses and increase the frequency of service between Gresham, the east of Portland, and downtown Portland.
The TriMet Intelligent Transportation director, AJ O’Conner, explained:
“LYT has completed setup and we are now beginning operational training and testing along the Division Street corridor. By moving buses faster and more efficiently, our riders will be able to rely on TriMet buses more and ultimately more people will have the confidence to get on board.”
Moreover, by improving TriMet’s public bus transportation time, traffic flow will be improved and the congestion that has been an issue the Portland metro area will be reduced.
In total, 58 intersections have had the LYT technology installed. The whole Division Transit Project is set to commence operation on September 18.
