Portland judged fifth best place to be single

Those looking for love will find Portland to be a good place start, according to a website that placed Portland in the top five cities where it is best to be single.

A report released recently by WalletHub, a personal finance website, says that almost half of U.S. adults are single and that 22% of millennials have gone into debt for dates, and this figure is 19% percent among Gen Z-ers. In its report, WalletHub cited a Lending Tree survey where respondents say they would on average spend a maximum of $91 on a first date.

Some businesses turn to Print shops to help them attract a specific demographic such as singles, seniors, or families.

For the 180 U.S. cities WalletHub compared, it weighed the three key dimensions of looking for love – economics, dating opportunities, and fun and recreation. Within these dimensions, the website examined 36 various metrics such as a city’s movie costs, meal costs, walkability, the percentage of the population fully vaccinated against COVID-19, weather, percentage of singles, and online dating opportunities.

Portland was ranked fifth in the nation with another Northwest city – Seattle, Washington – garnering the number 1 spot. Immediately ahead of Portland in the ranking was San Francisco, with Madison, Wisconsin and Denver, Colorado taking the second and third spots respectively.

Portland fared particularly well in restaurants per capita, online dating opportunities, percentage of COVID-19 residents fully vaccinated, and mobile dating opportunities.
