The Portland Book Festival will again be held this November at the Portland Art Museum. The festival will offer author conversations on-stage, panels, interviews, writing workshops, pop-up readings and live music accompanying and an expanded book fair.
Founded by Larry Colton, a local writer, in 2005 the festival was originally titled “Wordstock” until receiving its present moniker in 2018. Following a two-year hiatus, the event’s venue was changed from the Oregon Convention Center to the Portland Art Museum in 2015 with approximately 8,500 attendees.
Organize by Literary Arts, today the Book Festival has the Portland Art Museum as its primary venue with additional venues that include the Judy Kafoury Center, Portland’5 Centers for the Arts, and the Old Church Concert Hall. As always, an impressive selection of authors, about 100, both local and national will be on hand.

In addition to the main event that take place on November 2, 2024. Other events scheduled during the week of the festival include a series of events called Cover to Cover. These are related to the Book Festival, and take place in parks, restaurants, bars, coffee shops, and other venues. Fun activities beyond the traditional reading included activities such as film screenings, literary trivia and music.
