Coming in early August, the Pickathon Music Festival offers a variety of musical artists and lots of food amid the great outdoors during its annual three-day run.
Spread over 80 acres, the festival, which has been held each August since 1999, take place less than 20 miles from downtown Portland in nearby Happy Valley. On hand will be rock, rap, and indie artists, in addition to the bluegrass performances for which the event garnered its name.
Primarily a venue for new music, many of the artists may be unfamiliar to attendees; however, a Spotify playlist is always released by the festival, giving the public an opportunity to preview the various participating acts and discover new acts.

A wide assortment of food will be available at the event, or attendees can bring in their own food, but not alcohol. Another dining option is the Pickathon Curation Series, featuring multi-course meals prepared by noted Portland chefs. This limited-seating dining experience is followed by special guest musical performances.
With this being an eco event, environmentally friendly transportation is available, and no single-use utensils, cups, or plates are used. Attendees either bring their own place settings, or buy a stainless-steel cup and dish token and trade their dirty dish and utensils in for clean ones at any vendor. They can then take them home at the end of the evening for a souvenir.
The Pickathon Festival takes place August 3 to 6.
