On Monday, those eligible for Phase 1a lined up in their cars to receive their vaccinations. Phase 1a includes those with disabilities and both professional and family caregivers. People in this group were there at the invitation of the Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU).
The event required over 150 people to pull off with around 50 volunteers from the American Red Cross assisting PDX and OHSU, on a four-day run. OHSU’s PDX site leader Connie Amos said on Monday:
“By the end of today we will have vaccinated 3,300 people, our goal is to make this a mass vaccination site of 7,500 to 10,000 a day.”
The set up for providing vaccinations in the parking lot will remain and when additional vaccine becomes available, they will have the opportunity to try to reach that goal.

The PDX parking lot is not the only vaccination site in the area. Major healthcare providers have combined resources to vaccinate at the Oregon Convention Center, with a current focus on those living or working in long-term senior centers and healthcare workers.
