Unique gala and art show planned in Beaverton

The inaugural Artful Autism gala will take place in Beaverton later this month.

There will be between 10 and 12 artists with neurodivergence and other related disabilities who will be showcasing and selling their works, which will include handmade jewelry, art prints, and decorated pill organizers. There will also be food and drinks, and a raffle. This event promises to be “A Night of Pure Imagination.”

Such special and unique events can be promoted throughout the city and neighboring communities with poster printing.

The event is organized by The Program for Intellectual Empowerment (PIE), which is a small school in Beaverton for students with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Pauline Lee, founder of PIE, said that she thought of holding a gala given her own experiences growing up with a cousin with autism, and was also inspired by her students. Lee hopes that Artful Autism can be more than just a gala and a show of artwork, and will help people to notice and recognize how people with disabilities can be embraced and celebrated for what they bring to the community.

The gala will be held on Saturday, July 30 at the Spirit of Grace Church on Scholls Ferry Road from 6:30 to 9:00 p.m. Tickets are $50 per person and include admission to the gala, hors d’oeuvres, and one drink ticket.
