Nike plans Beaverton expansion
Having previously announced its intentions to expand its World Headquarters facility in Beaverton, Nike, Inc. recently provided an estimate for this expansion based on sources from construction and real estate companies.
The company plans to add 3.2 million square feet of office space, which will most likely cost more than $1bn. Nike purchased its first piece of property in Beaverton in 1984. The new project aligns with its master plan and will be tied to its existing facilities by means of sports courts and fields, paths, and open green spaces, and will also allow for growth in the future.
Mark Parker, President and CEO of Nike, commented that the company itself designs its spaces that enable collaboration in the same way its message inspires athletes to reach their potential. The expansion of its World Headquarters will allow the company to develop products for the future to best meet the needs of its customers and athletes.
Phil Knight, co-founder and chairman emeritus, echoed the sentiment, saying that the company is excited about this expansion and the opportunities it will provide for the future.
