Night market returns to Beaverton

Beaverton will be holding its 10th annual Night Market next month.

This is a milestone for the market so that the city will be focusing its efforts to create one memorable evening with more significant activities and performances. The event will grow to include the plaza in front of City Hall to provide for a more engaging and spacious environment.

Poster printing is often used to promote such special events in a city.

There will be hands-on engaging activities at The Reser in the main lobby. Artist Kanani Miyamoto will help attendees create colorful Sumi-e that will be part of the Across Oceans exhibit later in the fall. Aaron Nigel Smith, Manager of Education and Community Programs, will host a family friendly drum jam session. There will also be an opportunity to participate in the Community Diversity Mural.

The concept for the Beaverton Night Market was an action item from the Economic Opportunity Section of the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Plan of the Diversity Advisory Board of the city. It has also become part of the Beaverton Community Vision. September 2015 was when the first Beaverton Night Market was held as part of the Welcoming Week of the city and grew to two events over the summer which attracted about 14,000 people every year.

The Beaverton Night Market will be held on Saturday August 17 beginning at 5:00 p.m.
