New police chief appointed in Beaverton

Stacy Jepson, who has been interim police chief of the Beaverton Police Department, has been officially selected as the permanent head of the department.

Jepson has been interim chief of police since Chief Ronda Groshong retired in May. Announcements of such appointments are often made known throughout the community with Flyers and other printed materials created by local printing services.

Jepson has been deputy chief of police in Eugene since April 2019. Prior to that, she was part of the Hillsboro Police Department for 21 years as a police officer, later advancing through the ranks to commander for the patrol division.

Jepson said that while she was interim police chief, she became impressed with the members of the Beaverton police department. She noted that they are passionate about providing the best service to those in the community. She added that as the new police chief, she will be committed to ensuring there are strong collaborative relationships with the department and members of the community, and will lead the department with care, compassion, and humility.

Jenny Haruyama, city manager, said that Jepson has been able to lead the department with dedication and integrity. Haruyama added that Jepson has spent most of her career in Washington County with 27 years of experience in law enforcement, and said she looks forward to working with her in serving the city.
