New noodle restaurant to open in Beaverton

Afuri, a Japanese ramen shop with two locations in Portland, is planning to open a restaurant in Beaverton this spring. Featured will be the noodle soup, the robata skewers, and the lacy gyoza for which it is known.

Banner printing can be used at such restaurants to publicize its opening in a new part of town and its many specialties and features.

Afuri has developed a reputation in Portland for its nutty and rich tonkotsu tantanmen (a heavy ramen) and light and lemon-flavored broths bolstered with yuzu. There is more on its menu than noodles as it also serves its house-made tofu, sushi, and several small snacks and has a working robata grill.

Liz Allen, project manager, and director of culinary operations, Grant Macdonald, say that the menu in the new restaurant will be similar to that of the location in South Portland with a few more items on the menu. There will be a bar in the Beaverton restaurant and seating for 85 people. Although it will be somewhat smaller than the location in South Portland, it will have a private dining room that can be reserved for special events.

The restaurant is named for the mountain in Japan, which is a popular sightseeing spot in Kanagawa Prefecture, a province that is part of the greater Tokyo area.

Afuri is scheduled to open in mid-March.
