Tim Elsea has been hired as the new Public Works Director of the city of Beaverton. In his position he will be supervising the operations and engineering teams of the city.

Elsea was previously the Public Works Director and County Engineer of Skamania County in Washington, a position he has held since 2018. Before this, he was the Director of Public Works for Lane County and Lewis County in Washington.
Jenny Haruyama, city manager of Beaverton, said Elsea is a welcome addition to the leadership team, adding that he has over 25 years of experience in the public sector in emergency management, building, planning, and engineering. She said she is looking forward to working with him to improve the community.
Elsea said when he met with the employees of the public works department and with the city leadership, he was impressed with their commitment and dedication to serving citizens. He expressed his excitement about joining such a dedicated and professional team and continuing to handle the many challenges in the departments.
The Public Works Department of Beaverton has an operational budget of $93.5 million and 140 employees. It was selected for full Accreditation by the American Public Works Association in 2019.
