New Beaverton housing development gets underway

Ground has been broken on the latest affordable housing development in Beaverton.

The project is in South Cooper Mountain and will feature 164 affordable homes. Of these, 10% will be set aside for those Beaverton community members who earn less than 30% of the area median income. Another 80 units will be reserved for seniors. This project is expected to be one of the first intergenerational communities in the city.

The project is next to the Mountainside High School, which is new, and offers access to over 15 acres of trails and open space. The architecture of the project will be modern with extensive amenities on site and many resident services. Brochure printing is one way to provide more details about such communities to attract a new set of residents.

Wishcamper Development Partners will be developing the project. The lead architect and planner is Otak, Unite Oregon is leading community engagement, and Colas Construction is the general contractor.

Justin Metcalf from Wishcamper Development Partners said this project has been developed as a collaboration between stakeholders in the community and the city of Beaverton. He expressed his pride and honor to be working with a community that makes its decisions based on inclusion and equity, is not afraid to examine more difficult issues, and advocates for those who may have been marginalized in the past.
