New affordable housing goes up in Beaverton
The Mary Ann, affordable housing offering 54 apartments, is currently under construction in Old own Beaverton. The housing is named for Mary Ann Spencer Watts, Beaverton’s first teacher.
There will be three units with three bedrooms, 26 with two bedrooms, and 25 with one bedroom. Among the amenities at the Mary Ann will be laundry facilities, a secure bike room, a parking lot with spaces for 39 cars, and a community room adjacent to a large courtyard. Within walking distance are the WES and MAX light rail, grocery stores, and other shopping opportunities, parks and restaurants, and the library and post office. Brochure printing is often used to provide more details about such projects and their offerings.
REACH is the developer for the project and has built such housing in the area since 1982. This is the developer’s first such project in the city and will also be managing the project. Scott Edwards Architecture designed the building, which is being constructed by Walsh Construction, and The Klosh Group is tasked with the construction management.
Chair of Washington County, Kathryn Harrington, said that this housing is important in creating a vibrant community. She expressed her gratitude to the many partners that came together to make this project possible. It is expected to be completed by the end of next year.
