What's Happening in Beaverton, OR…

Lake Oswego opening recreational facilities

The Parks and Recreation Department of Lake Oswego is beginning to open various recreational facilities in the city. Residents of Beaverton may want to take advantage of some of these outdoor opportunities.

Director of the Parks, Ivan Anderholm, said that the community gardens are now open four days a week using odd and even numbers dates of the week to limit overcrowding. Registration in advance will not be required for the two-hour time slots and people can bring in food and beverages from the outside.

The golf course is also opened. People need to sign up online for tee times ahead of time. A payment window is set up that accepts credit card payments only and benches will remain on the golf course itself. Single-use restrooms and water fountains will also be opening this month. Poster printing is an ideal way to get the word out about such openings as posters can list the rules and requirements for use of such areas.

Anderholm is working with surrounding municipalities to open the dog parks and athletic fields to prevent overcrowding. He expects that all other areas that were not mandated to be closed should be opened by Memorial Day.

The Lake Oswego Parks and Recreation Department operates one of the busiest parks and recreation systems in the metropolitan Portland area.
