Festival for the Bard to come to Beaverton

The Experience Theatre Project in Beaverton will be holding its Westside Shakespeare Festival in Beaverton next month.

This will be an immersive celebration over three days and will take place on the south lawn of the Beaverton City Library. Featured on two stages will be madrigal singers, Shakespeare-related performances and activities, poets, and Renaissance dancers who will offer fun for the entire family. There will also be a presentation of “The Complete Works of William Shakespeare” each day. An actor portraying William Shakespeare will be talking about his stories and his life. Banner printing can be used to promote such festivals as this one.

Among the special offerings will be Mrs. Lovett's Pie Stand serving up Elizabethan-style meat-and-vegetable pies, Tudor-inspired art, sword-fighting demonstrations, Billy Shakes’ favorite go-to mead, and a pop-up pub featuring wines and micro-brewed ales from Oregon. A swearing contest, a pillory of shame for bad actors, and a kids’ tent will also be featured.

One of the special events will be the Queen’s Feast of 1594, at which actors portraying William Shakespeare and Queen Elizabeth I will be in attendance with a spit-roasted pig and other culinary delights of the era. There will also be dancing, singing, and comedy actors.

The festival will run from Friday, July 16 through Sunday, July 18. A donation of $5 per person is suggested.
