The Beaverton High School Success Fund recently received $130,000 as a result of the fundraising efforts last month of over 175 people.
The Beaverton High School Success Fund (BHSSF) was created in 2014 to help fund improvements to facilities and academic programs, and provide support for both faculty and students. A nonprofit organization, it uses donations from private sources to supplement funds from the district and the state.
Vice President of the Board of the BHSSF, Joth Ricci, said that the goal of the fund is to help transform the school into a learning environment for the 21st Century so that it can have a positive impact on the students at the school. He added that there has been tremendous support from the community for the school.
This was demonstrated in 2015 when $3m was committed to be given to the fund over four years by an anonymous donor. So far, this money has been used for infrastructure improvements throughout the school, a robotics club, scholarships, and subsidies for athletic fees.
Darcie Meihoff, a spokeswoman, said that money from the fund has also been used towards expanding certain career programs such as in engineering and health.
Banner printing companies can be hired to create displays in schools and the surrounding communities so that people learn more about such fundraising efforts and the many resulting benefits provided.
