Chinese academy finds new home
The Northwest Chinese Academy (NMCA) recently announced that it will be moving to Aloha as part of a planned expansion that will increase the number of available slots for preschool and kindergarten.
The Academy provides the highest level of immersion in Mandarin Chinese in the country, with 90% of its curriculum in Mandarin Chinese and 10% in English.
Amber Guillory Richardson, member of the Advisory Board and parent of a preschooler, said that this move will enable the school to be closer to other schools such as Aloha-Huber and the International School of Beaverton. The education which the school provides will now be more accessible to the growing communities of Hillsboro and Aloha and still be accessible to the families in Beaverton.
With a campus that is three acres in size, twice as many children will be able to attend the school.
The Early Language Immersion Network Project Director of the Asia Society, Dr. Shuhan Wang, said that students from the Academy show levels of literacy and oral language skills in Chinese that are among the best in the country.
An end-of-year carnival is being planned by the school from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on June 23.
Flyer printing companies can be hired to create flyers that can be distributed throughout the local communities so that residents become aware of such moves.
