Beaverton science teacher nominated for special award
The National Life Group Foundation recently nominated Susan Duncan of the Beaverton School District for the LifeChanger of the Year award for 2017-2018.
This award recognizes kindergarten through twelfth grade school teachers in the district who exemplify leadership and excellence, and have a positive influence on students.
The criteria for consideration for this award include enhancing the culture, pride, and atmosphere of a school or district; adhering to the highest ethical and moral standards; having a record of professional excellence; and being committed to building a nurturing environment that supports learning. Parents and school officials make the nominations.
Susan Holveck, the science specialist in the Beaverton School District, nominated Duncan, who is a science teacher at the Meadow Park Middle School.
Holveck commented that she has worked with Duncan for 14 years. He implements many teaching practices that exceed her basic duties as a teacher to ensure her students will succeed in the classroom.
Duncan is now eligible to win one of four awards. Should she become the grand prize winner, she can receive $10,000 that can be shared with her school or district. Surprise award ceremonies are held at school where the winners are announced.
Banner printing companies can be hired to create displays in schools and the communities around them so that people learn more about such special achievements.
