Beaverton police officer graduates from FBI academy

Captain Jeff Williams of the Beaverton Police Department and two other law enforcement officials recently completed a training session that lasted 10 weeks at the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia.

For law enforcement officers to be selected to attend this training, they have to undergo a highly competitive process. Their supervisor needs to nominate them, the candidates and co-workers take interviews to determine leadership abilities and skills, there is a physical fitness test, and former graduates of the National Academy need to support them.

Captain Williams has been in law enforcement since 1994, and in his current position, he leads the Operations Bureau and Administrative Bureau.

Special Agent in Charge of the FBI in Oregon, Renn Cannon, said that only a few from the state have the opportunity to attend the Academy each year. Those that do learn best practices from officers based all around the country and the world, and get to share these experiences with their peers.

Jim Monger, Beaverton Police Chief, congratulated Captains Williams on his attendance at the Academy and said that he has learned many skills and plenty of knowledge. This will benefit the Police Department and help him and the department to better serve the community, Monger concluded.

Poster printing companies could be used in situations such as this to help announce local accomplishments.
