Beaverton plans a new center for the arts

The city of Beaverton has plans to build a center for the arts and recently received a grant of $1m to help bring the center closer to setting a date for starting the project.

The grant was donated by the M.J. Murdock Charitable Trust for the construction of the Patricia Reser Center for the Arts. The capital campaign now needs to raise another $2.2m to make the project a reality. Printing services can be used to promote such centers and help with fundraising efforts.

The arts center will be near The Round in Beaverton on a piece of property owned by the city. A theater with 550 seats, spaces for meetings, classrooms, an outdoor plaza, an art gallery, and a parking structure will be included the center. It is currently being designed and developed with the hope to start construction later this year or early next year.

The name for the center is attributed to Pat Reser, who In July 2017 made a donation to the Beaverton Arts Foundation totaling at $13m to begin the fundraising campaign. The Washington County Visitors Association, the state of Washington, the Harold and Arlene Schnitzer CARE Foundation, and the Oregon Community Foundation have also made donations to the center since then.

Revenues from a hotel tax that visitors to the area will pay and from $21.9m in public resources will also go towards funding the center.
