Beaverton gets new downtown dining option

The first food cart super pod, the BG Food Cartel, recently held a soft opening in Beaverton, with a lot having the ability to provide space for 31 food carts to serve beverage and food items from local vendors.

In the space, there is a bar serving wine and beer with indoor seating, as well as picnic tables, fire pit, a lawn, and free Wi-Fi. There is also an event venue for holding special events that can hold up to 150 people.

The BG Food Cartel is across the street from City Hall and within a short walking distance of the Beaverton Central Transit Center. Cantonese, German, Argentinian, and Guamanian are the current food offerings at the site.

The City of Beaverton provided a matching grant of $25,000 to get the pod started.

Dean, Dana, and Domonic Biggi run the pod, which is situated on the site of the former horseradish farm and home of their grandmother, Rose Biggi. She was born and raised in Genoa, Italy and founded Beaverton Foods, which makes specialty condiments and is now in its fourth generation of ownership by the family.

A special grand opening ceremony for the pod is planned for the spring.
