The Lovegood Performing Arts Company of Beaverton has plans to remodel and expand the area for the stage to create a state-of-the-art space that provides more opportunities for students.
The flexible space in the backstage area of the theater will be enlarged and stairs to the backstage removed to create a single stage area. Space is rented by Lovegood from the Remedy City Church on NW Bronson Street in Beaverton.
Artistic director of Lovegood, Evan Aldrete, said that that a ramp which is ADA accessible will be installed that will improve accessibility as students with mobility limitations have difficulty accessing the stage. More details about such renovations and their benefits for students are often made available with brochure printing.
Lovegood had a goal of raising $181,600 towards the renovations and has surpassed that goal with an amount of $193,000.
The Lovegood Performing Arts Company is a non-profit performing arts education and performance organization that was formed about four years ago. Its first show was in the fall of 2020. Funding for Lovegood is made possible through theater classes for both adults and children, an annual fundraising gala for sponsors and donors, and ticket sales. Performances planned for the winter season include “Into the Woods” and “Diary of a Wimpy Kid The Musical”.
It is expected the renovations will begin this month.
