Beaverton becomes home to new hotels near sports complex
The start of construction for two hotels in Beaverton was recently celebrated by the hotel developer, city officials, and business leaders.
The Cornell Oaks hotels are located near the Howard M. Terpenning Recreation Complex and are designed to attract sports participants and their families, as well as business travelers.
One of the hotels will be an Element by Westin with 107 rooms. This extended stay hotel is primarily for use by participants and guests of the recreation complex. The other hotel is an AC Hotels by Marriott. It will have 117 rooms and will be primarily for travelers who will be doing business with Columbia Sportswear, Tektronix, Nike, Intel, among others.
Each building will be four stories in height and provide space for the development of restaurants. Banner printing can be used to attract those establishments that might be interested in such spaces.
Chief executive of Brandt Hospitality Group, Steve Martodam, said that the hotels are designed so there will be rooms to accommodate families traveling during the weekdays, as well as for business travelers. He added that the goal of his hotel group is to become part of Beaverton and its growth.
Brandt Hospitality is based in Fargo, North Dakota, and has built hotels in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and at the Atlanta Airport-North, with several other projects currently underway.
