An old method for preparing leavened bread has enjoyed a comeback in recent years, and a Columbus workshop will teach how to prepare it in the home kitchen.
Sourdough bread uses a wild yeast starter to rise, and the hybrid class that’s been organized by Columbus Garden School will walk home bakers through the steps of making a loaf. It will be a hybrid activity, and everyone who Signs up will be able to pick up their starter in advance.
The starter culture for making the bread will be using the Bernadett's special starter they've picked up, and full instruction on how to mix, knead and allow their loaf to rise will be provided. Shaping techniques will be discussed, and everyone will find out about the other treats that can be made using the methods shared. Anyone who wants to have the starter made ready for them to collect will need to register before March 11th. The workshop will be delivered using the Zoom platform, and it will not be recorded.
Even though a class may take place online, it may still benefit from a variety of Print services. A banner printing company can craft backdrops and other oversized items for a virtual learning session as well as Signs and other materials.
This introduction to the art and science of baking sourdough bread is scheduled for March 14th, and will start at 10:00 am. The starters can be picked up at 1350 East Cooke Road.
