Columbus offered seats in butterfly workshop

People of all ages may be fascinated by butterflies, and those who reserve a seat in a Columbus area workshop will discover ways they can attract them to their own home garden.

Gina Crabtree will be sharing tips and advice for butterfly gardening, and it will be on offer at the Westerville Community Center. It will run for one hour, and when they leave for home, the participants will each have a better understanding of butterfly ecology, the threats they face, and what they can do to lend the insects a helping hand.

This free activity will introduce the species native to the area and how each depends on a group of plants, or in some cases even a single species, for survival. The life cycle of these insects, from egg to caterpillar to adult flyer will be discussed, and it is been requested that those who would like to participate book their space ahead of time, as this will be helpful to those planning the experience.

The number of people interested in environmental stewardship is on the rise, and workshops provide them with learning opportunities. Copies of handouts for these activities can be sourced from local Stationery printers.

Westerville Community Center, which can be found at 350 North Cleveland Avenue, will be helping community members to offer butterflies a helping hand on Sunday, June 25. It is scheduled to start at 1:00 pm.
