Columbus families that care about the environment may want to make sure they include a local activity in their plans for late spring.
The Commons for Kids initiative has been created by the city, and June’s will explore the environment and sustainability. Activities will be free of charge, and it will provide an opportunity for kids to make discoveries and have fun doing so.
The organizer of the day has partnered with a variety of community groups, small businesses and organizations, and it will be running for three hours. Pretty as a Princess will provide face painting, and Urban Arts Space will be manning the crafting stations. Environmental groups such as Ubuntu Farmer’s Market, The Compost Exchange as well as Franklin Soil and Water Conservation District. The Columbus Folk Music Society will supply live entertainment, and games and carousel rides may be available, so long as the weather cooperates.
Communities often organize kid-friendly activities for the spring and summer months, and these can take place outdoors so the attendees can enjoy the fresh air and sun. Reusable signage and decor prepared by a banner printing company may provide a way to make an event’s budget stretch.
The Environmental Day instalment of the “Commons for Kids” initiative will run from 10:00 am until 1:00 pm on June 6th. Columbus Commons is located at 160 S. High Street.
